“Always” by Nolcha Fox

perfect, each hair in place,
facelift, hair dye, make-up
makes us wonder if you ever age.
Your clothes, all lace
and velvet, trimmed
with silk and satin.
Your favorite flowers, lilies,
clasped between your hands.
You’re what I always
wished to be,

except that you are dead.
