I sing my heart out to you:
not muted nor flamboyant
still, where your words or kisses stop it
steady, as the pattern of our love
Measured in calm, considered tones
not coarse nor laboured
calling across coloured coasts
ascending mountains, carrying us home
You play a lover’s rock and roll
not rigid nor restrained
just strumming rhythms heard in dreams
foot-tapping time to heartbeats in a bar
We sing a duet
soft and strident: a-cappella love
rising through eaves
ascends the arc of autumn skies above
