Balanced on one leg
A heron looks to the south
Slow drift of a new song
Wafting over the lake
Waxing flaxen early autumn
Is in the throes of a full-blown launch
Reminded of new paths
The heron glides
Over the enchanted waters
God of adventure
Perched on its wings
Forging a force of a foraging being
To follow its destiny and its dreams
In a foam of gray
On hope-laden wings
It propels itself to a smooth liftoff
Onto highways of the heavens
Laying claim to its own piece of sky
To travel under its benevolent eye
