January shivers, cry rivers of reflection. A bun dance: Gratitude of past highlights, rejection and future projection. The freeze stops us in our tracks with clarity to stand still. Ring around the rosy, a pocket full of posey, the children giggle and dance with Jack Frost nipping at their nose. Icicles invite warm fires, hot cider, snuggles and diamond dripping prisms to behold. Embers of hope and faith, ring in January shivers. as we toast to our deepest quivers. Nice piece Cindy. It reminds me of when my mom would make hot chocolate when we were allowed to play outside in Virginia on base when it was cold. Those were good memories. I am sure you always made your kids all kinds of fun things for each of the holidays. Glad to hear you are going to still be posted here on a regular basis. Big hugs and blessings, Joni

I like the bun dance with the embers of hope and snow crystals. It sounds like an old blues song:
Oh baby,
got the shivers,
t’night
got the shivers
in the river of life, but
shake your buns
honey
be my deer, dear,
and be in
the highlights of this year
got the shivers, yeah
in an iced over river now
so don’t skate too far away,
oh no, don’t shiver babe, ’cause
hot cider!
warm fire! just
see that
ya come an’ snuggle with me.

Your delightful poem brought back memories of winters up north, Cindy! 🙂 One memorable day when my oldest daughter was young, our family took a pot of my homemade vegetable beef soup and a loaf of my homemade wholegrain bread up to the mountain. While the soup was heating on the grill, we went sled riding nearby. I enjoyed the snow then…

Oh that is such a lovely memory Cheryl. Thanks so much for sharing it with us and thanks for being here. That soup is sounding pretty darn good at the moment! It’s cold today alright but the sun came out. 💗⛄️🙏🏼

Wonderful imagery and sentiments here, Cindy. I’m a January baby so it has a unique place in my heart. The imagery of the icicles really struck a chord with me. I vividly recall breaking icicles off the eaves and licking them as a kid. Who cared if they were dirty, right? 😀 Great poetry as always, my friend. Stay warm! 🙂

I’m thrilled to know that Mike and I do remember you had a birthday as of late. Happy Birthday again! Oh that’s so cool and it reminds me you might have some photos of it no? Oh I’m glad they didn’t stick to your tongue. Dirt is one thing … who cares is right! But I think of Dumb and Dumber and icicles stuck to their tongue.. Ouch.. lol/. Thanks and so happy you enjoyed my poem, thank you, my friend! 💞⛄️🙏🏼

Cindy G, how serendipitous is it that we are having our first little snowfall here in NY. It hasn’t amounted to anything which is just fine by me; I really don’t like cold or snow or winter BUT your wonderful poem brought back cherished memories of endless fun in the snow when I was a kid! Lovely! ⛄️
