The Tight Fit

Cups and Saucers she walked on,
Shattering them with every step…
A gravely cough,
She choked on salted sandpaper,
Or perhaps that was the color
Between his cages…
Her heels poked holes in his shadows,
That night, she gifted him a cheese grater…
She drew twelve lines and tried to connect them
Into a cube…
But the lines were never straight…
He ran back into the closet
To don his Mother’s dress…
But his eye caught his father’s belt instead…
On an empty silver hanger, it laid…
