I want you to read me:
want you to read the spaces in between
the lines, and guess at what they mean
perhaps you will find me
As I want to read you
the way the light plays like a dream
at dawn: a deep, defiant gleam
that’s how I read you
It’s all a crazy guessing game
bewildering, but all the same
it’s my delight to read you, just as
I want you to read me.
I want you to write me
every night before you sleep
a promise I think you could keep
(such things excite me)
So, I want to write you
over the rainbow, or the river wide
I want to write you by my side
that’s how I’ll write you
And now I must thank you
for with your words resounding, true
you honour me more than you know
as I read you write me.
