love letters in the dust
or on the empty sands at sunset
lets the sea erase them
but he tells me, ‘I wrote you a letter
just perfect enough
to never be read
but only echoed
in the retelling
as the sea knows
and the winds know
how I felt, the words I spelled
I love you
still do
always, always
will do.’
