Lamed Love

They strode away
gracefully without a say,
gracefully without a say.

In an appalling night like this,
Big Jackal held the hand of the miss,
in a scary night without a rest,
strolled they down, gently into a forest
where passed by no boys
and no apes made any noise.

Big Jackal stood there, and there he sang,
and there he sang, to Sister Dog in a tongue;
his words awakened the sleeping beasts,
and the forest goat who only bleats;
even the new moon rose below,
charmed by his mellifluous flow.

So the big and the small stood by, marveled
as the two had their bodies sweet and held,
but with silence for love, oh love is a magnet
that draws people even into nights late.

But what he’d longed for he offcut,
seeing the snoops did painfully hurt.
He retreated, turning to her said,
“Too late it is to have you in my bed.”
The words fell on her ears and hurt –
the gates of her heart they did shut,
and so she turned and strode away
gracefully without a say.
