our love, airborne
by Jeff Flesch, Monthly Contributor

the sun rising in the morn, reminding me of times,
forlorn, dust-laden hands, breathing in all I can,
while looking to the stones in the
riverbend
wafting this way and that, gathering debris, kept,
from the tides, even as we diatribe,
about the loss felt, within
our cradled
breast
beating like a drum, as we wonder about tomorrow’s
hum, learning more about what is torn, and
realizing the river, once turned to stone,
is now full of
our love, airborne…

Welcome to MasticadoresUSA.
MasticadoresUSA was founded by Juan Re Crivello as part of Gobblers/Masticadores in 2021. Its current editor is Gabriela Marie Milton.
MasticadoresUSA features talented writers of poetry and short prose. We primarily publish writers who write in English, and are based in the USA. However, while the publication language remains English, we also welcome the work of our fellow writers from all over the world.
What do we want to bring to our readers? Edgar Allan Poe once wrote: Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words. This is what we are committed to bringing to you. And that’s not an easy endeavor.
If you want to submit, please send your work – poetry and/or short prose – to gabrielamariemilton@gmail.com. In addition to the piece(s), you want to have published, we need your name, and the address of your site. Submit your work as a docx attachment – not in the body of the email. Limit your submission to two pieces. We do not accept pieces longer than 300 words.
What are the themes that we are looking for? Surprise us!
However, MasticadoresUSA does not publish any work that contains racist, homophobic, sexist, and hate talk of any kind.

This is beautifully done, Jeff. Your writings inspire me. One thing amazing about this piece and others is that the words are carefully chosen (diction) and so they relay the messages as clear as need be. Your use of poetic devices such as imagery, rhyme, assonance, consonance and alliteration is also a notch higher. Keep it alive, my friend. 👏👏

A lovely piece Jeff which speaks to the wonders of nature and our world. How lovely the way you talk about the river, forever drawn to those places that hold the water of the earth. That which we are mostly made of and one of the essential needs we as human require to survive. I love the ending also. Sending hugs and love my friend. xoxox

I loved that you mentioned diatribe. One of those things that creates turbulence. And, together we move along with the tide. Just gorgeous.
