Siren Songs of Rambling Roads

The rambling roads are calling home,
and the paper trails of prose-poemed passages 
we vowed to roam echo visions of misted-morning veils 
o’er mountain valley mezzanines.

With hearkened hearts we heed in haste,
restless to revel the magic.
Longing to drink in the majesty and miracle of life.
Anxious to ramble the open road,
crease-browed and squint-eyed,
Anaheim bound on the
blister-shimmer blacktop
between ‘Cisco and La La Land
where film strip flashbacks of good
times in gone byes flicker and
splay over the horizon like reflections in refractions—
something tremendous.

Eager to bask in gulls a-flight an ember-orange sky morn.
A-flight a backdrop of salt-capped crests in full bloom and bust,
poised and arced like lovers’ backs in wind-whipped tufts of cotton ball white. 
Against a celestial canvas, careless and carefree where there’s gulls a-flight,
the rambling roads are calling.
